Is Colorado a Better Place for Seniors Than Other States?

All the statistics seem to agree on the fact that Colorado is a better place for seniors than many other states. This is also reflected by the predictions of Colorado`s Demography Office, which reveal a raise in the state`s senior population with almost 1.3 million, by 2030. Another indicator is the fact that many seniors have lived here for more than two decades and have no plans to leave.

This can be explained by one thing: Colorado is a good place to get old with lots of great senior living Denver options. But what concrete benefits of do seniors here have?

First, it is about tax benefits, consisting in a significant deduction on all retirement income. Additionally, property taxes are some of the lowest in the country, and medicine and food are exempt from sales tax. Taxpayers 65+ years old benefit from an annual deduction of almost $25,000, on all retirement income.

The Centennial state also has over 100 hospitals (some of them are among the best in the country) and other healthcare facilities.

Not least, considering that old age often comes with challenges related to health and self-care, it is good to remember that there are about 180 independent living communities in Colorado, as well as almost 600 assisted living facilities and more than 220 nursing homes.
