Helpful Tips to Show Love to a Parent Living in an Assisted Living Center

If your elderly parents live in an assisted living facility, there may be fewer opportunities to enjoy having a genuine good time with them. However, you can still show them appreciation and love in a variety of ways by taking some time out of your busy schedule to actually visit and interact with them:

  • Actually take the time to visit more often. A lot of the time, elderly parents miss their children, and even with the most advanced and beautiful assisted living Denver facilities, they won’t be that happy if they can rarely see you. Even if your schedule is busy, you can always take the time to visit your senior parents and enjoy some fun times together. They will certainly appreciate the gesture.
  • Not all parents like birthdays and holidays, and not all of them celebrate these special days. However, it’s hard to find anyone who wouldn’t appreciate their children remembering them on special days, and either visiting, calling or at least sending a card or a gift when they can’t make it.
  • Take them with you to see a movie sometime. One thing that most elders in assisted living centers miss is the outdoor interaction they used to have with their kids. While nursing homes won’t typically allow them to leave the facility, most elders will be able to move in and out of their assisted living homes quite freely, so you can easily go with them on walks, to see a movie, or to go for a fun drive for old time’s sake.
